- Supported the Florida KidCare Program to provide low-cost health insurance for children

- Implemented the Gold Seal Program to promote and recognize excellence in long-term care facilities and increase training in nursing homes, home health agencies, hospices and adult day care centers
- Increased the transparency of health care information to better allow Floridians to make informed decisions about health care
- Created several centers for disease research, the Women and Heart Disease Task Force and the Florida Alzheimer’s Center and Research Institute

Making High Quality, Affordable Care A Reality
Working with the Governor, Jeff Atwater helped set real health care reform into motion. “You have to win the battle on all fronts,” says Atwater, “Affordability, accessibility, prevention, quality of care and research for future prevention and treatment...they’re all crucial to success, as is ending the malpractice nightmare that drives doctors and nurses from Florida.”
Taking Care of Our Children and Seniors
Jeff Atwater supports the Florida KidCare Program which provides low-cost health insurance for children and the Health Flex Program to cover low-income families. Vital prenatal care programs for at-risk pregnant women are also a key priority for Jeff Atwater.
Jeff Atwater wants to help maintain Medicaid and Medicaid Long-Term Care continue to serve seniors by cutting inefficiencies and spiraling costs with historic and innovative reforms. He will work to create customer choice-driven programs in Medicaid and the Medicaid Long-Term Care program.
Quality and Safety In Medical Care
Jeff Atwater believes that improving patient safety and quality of care is just as important as increasing affordability and accessibility. He passed the Patient Protection Act, helped form the Florida Commission on Excellence in Health Care, the Florida Patient Safety Corporation and the Gold Seal Program to promote and recognize excellence in long-term care facilities.
